2. Use channel lock pliers or your hands to unscrew the slip nuts at both ends of the trap.
3. Dump out the contents (brace yourself—it may smell like a science experiment).
4. Scrub the inside of the pipe with a bottle brush, then rinse.
5. Reattach, tighten snugly (but don’t overtighten), and run water to test.
