“Fantastic service. Conrad was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, professional and easy to work with. He clearly explained every aspect of what he was seeing on our hot water tank, what he felt needed to be replaced/fixed and what was still fully functional/safe. He took us through the Gentlemen Pros procedures and their guarantees, the warranty they provide on their work, and every step in the scope of work he was quoting. My wife and I felt comfortable having Conrad in our home from the moment he arrived, which is hard to put a price on. Thank you very much, Conrad!” Nathan B
If you notice that your sink or shower is taking forever to drain, then it’s likely you’ve got a partial clog, with full clog threatening on its way. We’ve got a few DIY methods you could try listed below and on our blog, but if it’s a bigger block than you can manage, we’re right here ready to help.
When it comes to working out a clog on your own, many people opt for chemical drain cleaners, but it’s best to avoid using them because they can corrode pipes and harm your plumbing system over time. If you’ve used a chemical cleaner already, make sure you tell the technician before they start working on your train because those chemicals can splash out during the cleaning, or can make your pipes especially weak. We have an enzyme-based alternative that can prevent clogs that is much more safe and environmentally-friendly.
If you’ve got a slow bathroom or kitchen sink and you’re comfortable with basic tools, one of the most effective DIY moves is to remove and clean the P-trap (the U-shaped pipe under your sink).
1. Turn off the water supply and place a small bucket underneath the trap.
2. Use channel lock pliers or your hands to unscrew the slip nuts at both ends of the trap.
3. Dump out the contents (brace yourself – it may smell nasty).
4. Scrub the inside of the pipe with a bottle brush, then rinse.
5. Reattach, tighten snugly (don’t overtighten!), and run water to test.
It’s a simple way to clear a blockage that’s right under the sink – no chemicals, no guesswork. Just make sure the bucket’s in place!
These are some of the industry-leading tools we use to ensure a complete, safe clean every time:
Common Services Offered:
Use hair catchers in shower drains, avoid flushing wipes (even “flushable” ones), and run hot water down the drain weekly to reduce buildup. We recommend that you get your drains cleaned once a year for high-use homes, especially in older Edmonton properties. Regular cleaning prevents emergencies and keeps everything flowing smoothly.
Don’t let a small clog turn into a full-blown plumbing emergency. Whether it’s your shower, sink, or something more serious, call The Gentlemen Pros for fast, friendly, and professional drain cleaning.
